Rodeos are precarious places where a large bull is bucking about dangerously and a much smaller human is trying to hold on for dear life in the 8 seconds he has to prove himself. Many times they do not achieve their 8-second success and rather find themselves staring up at the massive hooves and horns of a 2000-pound angry animal. For some people, this is how life feels. They get all saddled up for the ride with plenty of gear; maybe that “gear” is a college degree or a specialized skill or talent. Then they expect that they will stay on for the full 8-second ride and not get bucked off.
However, what ends up happening, as in the inevitable case of the rodeo cowboy, is a ride that ends with their rear in the dirt, staring up at a larger-than-life obstacle that they don’t know how to overcome. The result maybe failed goals, confusion, worry and too much stress.
